Naorem Bidyasagar bags Sahitya Akademi Award

Naorem Bidyasagar Singh has bagged the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for 2014. He won the award for his book of poems "Khung-gang Amashung Refugee" (Village and Refugee).
Singh, a lecturer in the department of Manipuri at GC College, Silchar, said "Khung-gang Refugee" was a collection of more than 50 poems. The book was published by The Cultural Forum, Manipur, in 2011. He said the poems in question deal with the problem of insurgency in Manipur, the socio-economic and contemporary problems being faced by the people of the neighbouring state.
