NTC reaction on Rongmei tribe recognition issue
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, Oct 18 (NPN)
Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has clarified that its stand against the government notification dated August 4,2012 giving recognition to Rongmei as an indigenous tribe of Nagaland was based on related facts.
(4)NTC said despite reiteration on the difference between “indigenous tribe” and “indigenous inhabitants” in Nagaland, some people continued to be confused. NTC reiterated that any community which had become domiciled in Nagaland since 1963 are qualified under government notification dated April 28,1977 to be entitled as indigenous inhabitant status but cannot claim to be indigenous tribe of Nagaland.
