NPF condemns violence in the State
23rd March 2018 , Kohima: Nagaland
The Naga People’s Front is appalled by the lawlessness prevailing in the State in recent times such as the killing of Lunkholal Singsong, a Government official recently in Zunheboto district, the shooting and injury of Joy Chandra, a businessman last evening at Dimapur, and the shooting of Rekha Das, a shopkeeper this morning at Dimapur.
The assassination bids in the commercial capital of the State in a span of 24 hours have created a fear psychosis in the minds of the business community, and the NPF vehemently condemns these atrocious acts.
These shootings could either be due to business rivalry or related to extortion by undesirable elements, the latter being more likely.
Whatever the case may be, the Government of the day should immediately put its foot down and bring the culprits to book without any delay lest it, the Government, be construed to have ushered in a change for the worse in the society.
NNPGs should also rein in their erring cadres involved in such lawlessness because when all are anticipating a solution to the Naga political problem very soon, that solution would be rendered redundant if peace and normalcy do not prevail in the Naga society.
The efforts of all sections of the Naga people to bring about a final and acceptable solution to the Naga political problem all these decades shall go in vain if we perpetrate such violent atrocities or allow them to continue in our society.
