NIT Manipur celebrates Annual Foundation Day on 12th August 2014 at Takyelpat, Imphal
The NIT Manipur celebrated its Annual Foundation Day on 12th August 2014 at Takyelpat, Imphal (temporary campus).
The function starts with lightning the Inaugural Lamp by the Chief Guest, Shri R.K. Imo Singh, MLA Sagolband Constituency, Dr. S. Birendra Singh and Shri. R.K. Lalit Singh, the Director and Registrar, NIT Manipur respectively.
During the occasion, the Director expressed his profound gratitude to Honourable Chief Minister, Shri Okram Ibobi Singh, for his consistent effort and tremendous support especially during the initial development phase of NIT Manipur.

The Director in his addresses express his happiness in successfully starting-up of first year B.Tech programme at permanent campus, Langol Imphal and also assured the complete shifting of the campus to permanent site within the next academic session 2015.
The Director further highlighted the starting of PhD, M.Tech (EEE,ECE,CSE) and MSc (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) programmes from this academic session 2014 and also mention the starting of New two Research centres - "Water Technology" and "Bamboo Technology" which will be highly focus and given emphasis on local day-to-day concerns.
The Director then proudly congratulated the first batch students who passed out with more than 60% placed in several MNCs such as IBM, Philips, L&T, etc. through campus placement and also the remaining students who continued with further higher academics programme and entrepreneurships.

The Honourable Chief Guest, Shri R.K. Imo Singh, addressed on Challenges and opportunities to develop the institute into a World Class. He highly encouraged the students to participate in extracurricular activities apart from academics so as to become successful Engineers and brings pride to the alumni of the Institute in the years to come.
The highlights of the programme were the cultural Manipuri dance- Maibi Jagoi, Thougal Jagoi, Bamboo dance, Stick dance & Pung Cholom and martial arts show casting- Thang Ta etc.
Further, extending the celebration, a "Tree Planation" programme was conducted at permanent site Langol, on the next morning, 13th August 2014, with more than 100 trees planted by the Director, Registrar, Faculties, Staffs and Students of the Institute.
