NE students get legal aid cell at NIT Jamshedpur
Nagaland Post | Agencies | Jamshedpur, Jan 10 ()
Students from the northeast studying in National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, can now avail of legal aid o n campus. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), which set up a cell in the campus on Saturday, will provide free legal assistance to northeastern students. Sources in DLSA said the directive came in the wake of rising incidents of racial discrimination against students from the region.
“Setting up a legal aid clinic on campus is a good thing but one should ensure there’s greater cultural integration between the northeastern students and those from the rest of India to prevent racial discrimination,” said a second-year student of mechanical engineering from the northeast on condition of anonymity.
