NE region receives deficit rainfall with Manipur highest amount of deficit
Assam Tribune | Guwahati, Oct 5:
The overall monsoon rainfall in the north-eastern (NE) region this year is so far deficit, even though Arunachal Pradesh, with 18 per cent of deficit, has somehow remained on the list of normal rainfall receiving States.
As per the meteorological norms, so far as rainfall is concerned, 19 per cent above or below its normal is regarded to be in the range of normal rainfall for a place.
However, Manipur recorded the highest amount of deficit with 51 per cent less rainfall. The State received 1048.9 mm of rainfall during the period, against its normal of 2156.5 mm. Nagaland with 774.7 mm of actual rainfall, against its normal of 1329.7 mm, recorded a deficit of 42 per cent.
