NE consultation on AFSPA held at Kohima

With the objective to create awareness and voice out against Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in North East, North East Students Organisation (NESO) organised NE Consultation on Human Rights hosted by NSF at Millennium Hotel Kohima Wednesday. In his keynote address, NESO secretary general Siram Prakash reiterated that AFPSA has crossed the limit.
Naga social activist and writer Kaka D. Iralu, who was the resource person said government of India enacted AFSPA 1958 to shield its armed forces from any possible danger on their lives , instead of enacting laws to protect its own citizens. He said the government of India sanctioned the army to shoot its own citizens even on mere suspicion.
