NERIST Celebrates Thabal Chongba

On the evening of the 7th April, 2012, the community from Manipur celebrates the Thabal Chongba in NERIST Campus organized by the NERIST Manipur Students' Union from 6pm. Hundreds of people from all walks of life attended this colorful festival- the Manipuri family residing in Itanagar area, several faculties of NERIST itself from Manipur who made the event lively, students from other states and from Manipur.
In his well-come speech, Thangmuansang Guite, the President of NEMSU while welcoming said, "In our Manipuri society, especially in olden times, free mixing of boys and girls is not really encouraged except during this festival where everyone comes out and have a good time. So this is always a time of the year much awaited by the youths or in today's world- the students."
Thabal Chongba by NERIST Manipur Students' Union with the Chief Guest
Dr. P.R. Alapati, Dean of Students' affairs who is the Chief Guest of the Festival said, "Manipur has one of the richest cultures in north-east India." He also talks about the contribution of Manipur to the Institute in terms of faculty and the good academic performance of the students from Manipur. After the brief formal opening program, it began with a first round of dance by the Chief Guest, Manipuri faculties, cultural troupe and the student leaders.
The festival was ended at 10:30pm due to time restrictions within the campus while everyone wants more. So it ended with "See you again in 2013 Thabal Chongba". The NERIST Manipur Students' Union will be celebrating its 25 Years of Silver Jubilee next year- 2013.
