NERCPAC favours separate Ministry for Act East Policy

The ongoing North East Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association Conference (NERCPAC) has laid emphasis on creating a separate Union Ministry for proper implementation of the Act East Policy. The conference also urged the Centre for revival of Special Category State status, Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) and the investor-friendly North East Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (NEIIPP) for all round development.
Expressing concern over poor telecommunication service in the North East, the conference asked the authorities concerned to take urgent steps in this regard. “The tele-density in the region is still low. So, we want a hassle-free service,” the conference pointed out.
