Mystifying young mind

Lohru Soruna *

The menace of immorality and treachery is instinctively conscious and cautious by my people and culture. It is evident through the essence of my forefather's life and advice in terms of folk songs and folklores. The Naga culture brilliantly taught us to be authentic and morally responsible in life.

Some of the norms like; 'entering into somebody else's property must be at the good knowledge of the master or the people around. Handling of somebody else's tools and weapons must be more careful than yours. It is not at all right to neither open somebody's door in their absence nor plug a fruit without permission. Regard and respect parents and elders for they are earthly visible God.' I proudly regard and embrace my forefather's moral philosophy which is purely a way to congenial environment to survive for any type of human race that exist in the universe.

I do believe there is many good advice and teaching in other people's culture too. In spite being a mortal and flawed, deeply and consciously I felt guilty when thing goes wrong in my life. Being born and brought up from Christian family basing on the teaching of the Bible, I find my Naga moral principles and the teaching of Jesus Christ in the Bible is very much alike. But today I find it irrelevant in the very existence of human discipline, as if every moral principle is a mere story to talk about.

I am a young and vulnerable man living in the present century with full of curiosity and passion to understand things literally to become an upright and authentic citizen. But today, I am sure that many young people were rather confused and discouraged like me by the stereotyping and unauthentic disciplinary life that is rampant in the present social set up. Practice of bribery, dishonesty, unnecessary detention of works, baseless excuses, sleaze etc displayed by many respectable dignitaries whom the young minds look up as trustworthy person in the society is the worst of all immoral heroes.

The young minds sincerely expect such an educated or well learned person in the society to show and lead the good way for a better life. I really wonder what they really learned in their school or college days to behave this way. Are those corrupt minded bureaucrats really educated and fit to be in the place where they are? Or are they unfit backdoor entrance bureaucrats?

Whatever, whoever so, where could that essence of humanity of understanding and the feeling of humiliation in their life is? As a young and concern citizen living under such a turmoil social situation, I would like to whisper a few words of challenging to the dearest leaders of the society and state.

I believe for the cause of creation God doesn't charge anything from anybody after he created them, but to trust and obey him. And I do believe that no culture or tradition would happen to teach immoral lessons to live a dishonest life. The present tradition of social life is really contradicting, confusing and in-secured to think about.

Every leaders and officers who are responsible for the society in whatever department they are must think and answer the question raised by many young people who is suffering their action. Why is it so that the public/govt. officers sell a job with huge amount of money? Aren't they satisfied with their salary? Or are they entitled to do that by the law?

How come a person who is entitled and entrusted to look after the well being of the people can torture the people and demand respect by forced? Aren't they having sense? Why is the government so irresponsible to their responsibilities? Where are they?

And what makes them so busy where their actual responsibility is failed and people come out in the street protesting?

There is many 'WHY' questions in the heart of the young people. Regression, helplessness, dissatisfaction, hopelessness, desperation etc become the daily meals for the young aspirants. Could this situation be lead to protest and anti social mindset with the mental immature young people? Who is to blame if it is so? Almost every day in our state we are experiencing the highest form of agitation, highway blocked, sit-in-protest, killing, rape or harassment, closing of school institution and offices etc. I don't believe anyone wants to continuously live on like this in our state. One way or the other everyday life is disturbed, wealth and time wasted, peace and harmony faded, tears and sorrows rising, hatred and indifference crept in, communalism or tribalism surpass, every petty demands from every walk of life becomes the master of social unrest in the state.

If this culture goes on without constructive response, I doubt after some years even demanding family quota in the govt. sector may arise in our state. Today, people are more literate and educated than the olden day's people. We consider the olden day's people as less civilized than us because they are illiterate and uneducated.

However, the lives of olden days are much happier, peaceful, congenial and friendly than ours. Today, the more educated and so called civilized people become the greater the turmoil it becomes in the society. More degrees less quality, more salary less performance, more literate less intellect, higher position no morality, more dialogue less action, more wealth no value of life and so forth.

The biggest challenge is the mystification of whom to follow, what to learn? Which track to trail? Certainly it is immoral and unauthentic to stereotyping present social trends and follows the present corrupt leaders. However, it is almost impossible to get the share and survive in the society if alienated from this corrupt society. Is there any good person among us willing to enlighten us?

The most humble request or I should say the last resort of the young people heartfelt plea to every concern leaders, bureaucrat, ministers, uncles and aunties to stop practice internal evil and illegal trade in your department. If you see yourself as one person among many, open up your mouth and mind for truth and start teaching the young and energetic nieces and nephews, sons and daughters of your society.

Today is your day, but tomorrow result; you're responsible. Please think over and retrace back what have you taught to the young people to behave till today? What good life have you set as example for the young generation to follow your foot step?

What testimony of yours would people say after you left? Living a luxurious life at the expense of poor and needy people will have its own course of action as the law of KARMA taught us well. You are well aware that your own biological sons and daughters too will live together with the rest of the young generation who is suffering your action today.

It is your wish how or in what situation you want your children and grand children to live. It is the young people, requesting you corrupted elders and leaders to please ceased from your ravenousness, internal blame games, trend of coating dirt's with con justification. Please be authentic and teach us the good knowledge you have after going through this simple and shallow vocabulary article coming straight from the heart.
