More than an act of burning down a school : Toying with the future of students

School building going up in flames :: Pix - TSE
Not clear whether this is related to the ongoing stir at Churachandpur against the three Bills passed by the State Assembly on August 31.
What however is clear is that some elements are out there who will not hesitate one bit to throw the future of the young students into disarray.
The act of torching a school, St Peter’s School in Churachandpur, in the dead of the night on October 13 is sure to jeopardise the academic pursuit of the young students.
Remember it was after a month or 30 days that the sane decision to re-open schools was taken some time back.
The Sangai Express had lauded the decision then, under the firm conviction that the future of the young students should not be toyed around with.
However not everyone seems to share this train of thought if the act of burning down the school is any indication.
As stated earlier, it is not clear whether the act of arson is related to the ongoing stir or not, but what is amply clear is that the future of the young students is once again imperilled.
It is also not clear how long the schools in Churachandpur will remain closed, but surely the recent incident is not going to make things comfortable for the young students.
Remember just one day after the schools were supposed to re-open in Churachandpur, a good number of students had refused to attend school on the ground that attending schools when the future of the people is uncertain does not make much sense.
It has been the consistent stand of The Sangai Express that nothing should be allowed to interfere with the academic pursuit of the young students.
It is therefore extremely disturbing to see that a school has been burnt down at Churachandpur at this juncture just when the young students had started attending classes.
Difficult to say when classes will resume but take note, already one day has been lost and it would definitely distract the minds of the young students.
All the more reason why the JAC, Churachandpur need to tell the young students not to be distracted but to continue attending classes normally.
The people of Churachandpur too need to be on their toes to the fact that there are some elements who will go to any length to compromise with the future of the students.
The act of burning down the school is unacceptable by any stretch of the imagination and a look at the timing of the arson has only made it more unacceptable.
Education of the youngsters should no longer be toyed around with. This is the age of competition and excellence is the calling card.
Burning down a school and in the process giving rise to conspiracy theories should not be accepted under any circumstances.
This is another point which the people of Churachandpur should rally around.
