Mobile internet ban extended

Manipur government has extended the ban on mobile internet services for one more week, till December 30. Mobile internet services remained suspended across the state since December 18 last to prevent spread of rumours in the wake of heightened tension in the course of prolonged imposition of economic blockade on the national highways by the United Naga Council (UNC).
Earlier, the state government snapped services for a week which ended on December 25. However, it was extended till Friday (December 30). District magistrates of each districts across the state ordered ‘blackout’ of mobile internet services to check spread of rumours through social media like, facebook, whatsapp, etc.
