Memorandum to Chief Minister, Tripura
3rd September 2016
Open Memorandum to Shri Manik Sarkar, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Tripura State,
Your kind clarification requested for restoration of Justice and Peace is written by Kuki Movement for Human Rights Trust, Chairman Pu T. Lunkim
Most of the daily papers published the the ugly incidence taken place on 23 August 2016 at Agartala, the Capital City, and the King’s Palace, one of the Tribal, oldest States in the North Eastern Region.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is also said seeking clear report of the unfortunate incident. The most surprising phrase, used by the Medias is, how tribals could flee from their own Capital City Agartala? More surprising statement made by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Manik Sarkar Thursday said, “Guards of a section of students have approached local Police Stations to shift their children from the City. Police had to arrange for their travel…”
How could the Chief Minister, ruling in the tribal state Capital City, not protect the indigenous tribals in their own City, but let them flee from their home state Capital? Who are the powers behind to drive the indigenous people out from their home State Capital City Agartala?
The Hon’ble Chief Manik Sakar must explain in clear terms instead of his blaming the indigenous people of their peaceful rally permitted by the Law of the Country. Because the Chief Minister is quoted as saying, “Sarkar blamed IPFT (Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura) for the incident, terming it a preplanned attempt to disturb the communal harmony between tribals and non-triblas. Police Civil Administration was succeful in containing the situation,” two days after the incident took place.
How about those wounded hospitalized tribals, some believed to have succumbed to their wounds. Some are said still missing? Does the Hon’ble Chief Minister not care about the indigenous armless peaceful rallists? His order for magisterial inquiry cannot be accepted. Thorough inquiry from CBI/MHA must be put to investigate the situation to make it transparent for public knowledge. Lest the Chief Minister is starting a Communal War by using “Tribals and non-Tribals,” and “Tribals and Bengalis,” himself is a Bengali.
The Ministry of Home Affair should kindly step in and prevent the endangering peace and security in the Country against the “Tribals and non-Tribals,” a dividing wall built up by a Chief Minister of a State. The Hon’ble Chief Minister’s clear explanation is urgently awaited by the Indigenous people of the region to stop Communal enmity from taking root in the Country.
