Meena Longjam bagged Young Achievers Award 2016 at Guwahati on 12th of January 2016
Meena Longjam from Manipur bagged "Young Achiever's award" by Dalmia Bharat groups.
In recognition with her work in the field of documentary film direction the Dalmia Bharat groups has conferred the prestigious"Young Achiever's award" 2016 to Meena Longjam during a star studded event held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati on 12th of January 2016.
Dalmia Bharat Cement, endorsed by the youth Icon Mary Kom is a young brand in the North East. And to celebrate the spirit of the youth, every year Dalmia Bharat felicitated young achievers who excel in the field of performing arts,culture, sports, journalism and film making.
Meena Longjam who is just 31 years old is a single mother of 2 doting kids who struggle to find time with her role of motherhood and pursuing her academic and professional pursuits. In 2015, she launched Airameen Media to produce films related to woman empowerment and publish books related to media and the arts.
Her debut film 'AUTODRIVER' is about a lady auto driver based in conflict torn Imphal city who has to face the discrimination of passengers. The film was premiered at Signs film festival Kerala 2015 where she bagged the Jury special Award.
The film has been selected for screening in a number of national and international film festivals in competition section sharing Manipuri's woman spirited role in the society. She is developing more such woman empowerment films for production.In 2015, Meena also wrote and published her debut book "handbook for reporting and editing techniques" to help new and upcoming media professionals.
She has recently submitted her doctoral thesis in mass communication from Manipur central university. Other than attending a number of film festivals, giving talks in media conferences across India and in foreign countries, she also works as a freelancer for National Broadcaster Doordarshan.

Each year, Dalmia Bharat recognises outstanding young achievers in the field of dance, journalism, football, music, arts, acting and documentary film direction. This year, eight young achievers were felicitated. The awardees include Seuj Priya Borthakur (Sattriya Dance), Diganta Goswami (Journalism), Samudra Sihar Biswas (Sports Journalism), Rupert Nongrum (Football), Meena Longjam (Documentary Film Direction), Toshimoa Zamir (Music), Lakeshwar Bodo (Art) and Kalpana Kalita (Acting).
