The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri N. Biren Singh in the presence of the Union Minister of State for Education & External Affairs, Hon’ble Dr. R K Ranjan Singh, the Minister of Education Hon’ble Shri. Th. Basanta Kumar Singh and the Director of IIIT Manipur, Prof. Krishnan Baskar, and dignitaries of the State and Central Government are flagged off the “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat (EBSB)” Yuva Sangam tour of the Manipuri students’ team to Nagpur Maharashtra on Monday 20th February 2023, 09:30 am at Chief Minister’s Secretariats, Imphal, Manipur.
Ministry of Education, Government of India, had conceptualized an initiative of ‘Yuva Sangam’ under Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) to strengthen people-to-people connect and build empathy between youth of the North Eastern States and other States of our country. This program is being organized in collaboration with various other ministries and departments such as Culture, Tourism, Railways, Information & Broadcasting, Youth Affairs & Sports, Home Affairs, Department for Development of North-East Region (DoNER) and IRCTC.
Around 1000 youth will participate in the pilot of Yuva Sangam. Such project under the Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi, can be considered as one of the best by any government ever, to connect and strengthen the bond between young people of North Eastern States and the rest of the India.
The best part of the project is not only the cultural exchange but a task called “Buddy System” where a student has to become a buddy from the paired state and vice versa. It will provide an immersive, multidimensional experience of various facets-under four broad areas of Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development) and Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect).
The program is fully funded by Government of India towards travel by flight, train and Bus, free boarding and lodging and there is no expenditure on the part of visiting students. It is an excellent initiative of Government of India under the visionary leadership of Shri. Narendra Modi ji.
A total of thirty (30) Manipuri students representing various districts and Institutions in Manipur and three (03) faculty members from IIIT-Manipur, who will accompany the students, are travelling to Nagpur, Maharashtra as a first batch on 20th February 2023 and will tour in the state of Maharashtra from 20-26th February 2023. Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) - Manipur is coordinating the program in association with IIIT-Nagpur
It’s a youth exchange program where 70 students with 5 faculties will also be visiting Imphal on 27th of February 2023 and will tour in Manipur from 27th of February to 3rd of March 2023. The other nodal institutes from the state are Manipur Central University and NIT-Manipur to take similar number of students to Madhya Pradesh and Punjab respectively.

The 30 students from Manipur are selected to Maharashtra out of 469 applicants from all over Manipur and there were 289 applicants for the Maharashtra which is being coordinated by IIIT Manipur. As a pilot initiative, 11 Higher Education Institutions from North Eastern States and 14 institutions from rest of the country have been paired. Among the institutes the first team to start the tour in this pilot project in the country is IIIT Manipur with students from Manipur.
The 30 students travelling to Maharashtra represent a diverse team belonging to multiple districts, ethnicity, rural & urban, with multi-talent in the field of culture, science and education, and studying at different educational institutions in the state of Manipur such as Manipur University, Dhanamanjuri University, and several other colleges.
The flight, bus/train travel, food, and accommodation expenses for the students are sponsored by the ITCTC Govt. of India, the whole program is Coordinated by AICTE under the close supervision of Ministry of Education, Govt. Of India. The children of Manipur will get wonderful experience to build strong State of Manipur and Nation.
Addressing the students, the Hon’ble CM of Manipur CM Shri N. Biren Singh stated that the EBSB Yuva Sangam Program is a brainchild of our prime minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. This program highlights the oneness of India and advised the students to project the best culture of Manipur to the host state. He said that we must specially emphasize our culture of respect to our elders and women to the new friends of the host. Union Minister of State for Education and External Affairs, Dr RK Ranjan Singh also emphasized the importance of this tour and told the students to document their trip during their visit and highlight their positive experiences in Maharashtra when they come back home.
The Minister of Education Hon’ble Shri. Th. Basanta Kumar Singh stated that our state of Manipur is currently highlighting the need of higher education and steps are taken to implement the NEP in the best possible way.
