Manipuri Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh felicitated the Manipuri State Awardees at Itanagar
The two days program of the 11th General Body Meeting of Manipuri Welfare Association of Arunachal Pradesh (MWSAP) and 2nd General Body Meeting of Manipuri Association of Northeast India (MANEI) was inaugurated today at the conference hall of Bharat Scout and Guides, Naharlagun. The function was attended by around 200 Manipuri members residing in Arunachal Pradesh and other North Eastern States.
The members of the society condoled the untimely demised of its various members. The members prayed for K. Kipjen and John Kipjen who passed away in an unfortunate landslide incident at Karsingsha on 01/10/2014 by observing 1 minute of silence. President of MWSAP, Shri. S.K. Singh, presided over the function wherein large numbers of representative of Manipuri residing in the North-eastern states came together.
The inaugural session marked the felicitation of recipients of Arunachal State Awardees. Altogether four persons were given the honour for their outstanding contribution to the state in various disciplines. The awardees include Shri. S. Deven Sharma in the field of Karate, Shri. K. Rupachandra in the field of badminton, Smt. Ekashini Devi, in the field of Archery and Dr. K. Romeo Meitei for his contribution to adventure sports and mountaineering.
The members decided to take up various societies oriented activities like free coaching for board and competitive examinations, voluntary blood donation camps, sports camp for children etc.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri. K. Kanta Singh, Vice President, Manipuri Association of North Eastern India (MANEI) presented a brief introduction of MANEI and also highlighted the hardships and troubles faced by the various Manipuri residing out of the state. He highlighted his days of forming Mizoram Manipuri Association wherein he faced many hardships. He exhorted the house that people from different areas should interact and also opined that only interactions will lead to more cooperation and overall strengthening of the association.
Shri. Y. Nabachandra, President United Committee of Manipur also spoke in lengths about the role of UCM in putting up a platform wherein all ethnic people come together in safeguarding the integrity of the state. The UCM being the Apex body is working for the indigenous people of the state, he added. He also stressed that we should work together for the socio-economic problem of the state and should come with a solution wherein our stand are made heard in this globalised world.
Shri. S. Prakash, Secretary General, NESO highlighted the problems faced by the students of the eight north eastern states. He highlighted the issues of reservations in admission process and also various schemes of the government wherein one can get free education in professional courses. The meeting also discussed about the various problems faced in Manipur.
The society showed its support for the implementation of ILP in the interest of the indigenous people. Lastly, all the stack holders are requested to maintain peace and harmony so that the state can progress.
