Manipur tankers to ply on alternative route
- Blockade threat to supplies

The indefinite blockade in Upper Assam is unlikely to affect supply of petroleum products to Manipur as tankers are set to take an alternative route to Guwahati to fetch supplies, provided enough fuel is available in Assam's capital.
The Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Assam, yesterday announced an indefinite economic blockade from Numaligarh in Golaghat district to Tinsukia in Upper Assam from today to stop operations in the oil sector. The Parishad has called the blockade, demanding Scheduled Tribe status for six indigenous communities of Assam.
