Manipur scribes protest threat
The Telegraph | Imphal, Dec 27
Journalists in Manipur today ceased work to protest a bomb threat by an unknown militant group. The rebels had planted an improvised explosive device at the office of Pandam, a vernacular daily, along Wahengbam Leikai road here last evening, with a message saying that "it (the bomb) is a new year gift for all editors". It also mentioned the name of a militant group.
"The people behind the bomb threat used the name of a known militant group. However, the group denied having planted the bomb. We cannot exactly say who are behind the bomb threat. Anyone could have done it," Mobi (president of the Editors' Guild) said. He added that there was no conflict between the editors and any militant group and therefore the development was very confusing.
