Manipur parties decide to send team to Delhi over molestation
The Telegraph | Imphal, Dec. 25:
An all-party meeting today called for sanity and end to strikes as Manipur celebrated Christmas with subdued festivity in view of the impending bandhs. An uneasy calm prevailed in the state after three days of street clashes between police and rioters, punctuated by curfews to control violence.
The all-party meeting, convened by chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh at his cabinet conference hall here to discuss the situation arising out of the alleged molestation of Manipuri film actress Momoco by NSCN (I-M) cadre R.P. Livingstone in Chandel on December 18, condemned the incident.
It decided to send a joint political delegation to New Delhi to apprise UPA leaders of the situation arising out of the incident and to urge Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and home minister Sushil Kumar Shinde to hand over Livingstone to the state government.
