Manipur's orange, Siroi lily, to get GI index

After Kachai Lemon, Manipur horticulture department has taken up steps for getting GI (Geographical Indication) index for orange, Siroi lily and Shirarakhong chilly. Popularly known as Kachai Champra (lemon) which is found in Kachai village in Ukhrul district about 16 km north off Ukhrul district headquarters, was given GI No.466 by Registrar of Geographical Indication of government of India in April, 2015.
Steps have already been taken up for getting GI index for the orange, Siroi lily and Shirarakhong chilly, director of horticulture said, addressing a news conference on Monday.
