Manipur observes flag hoisting day
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Apr 14 ():
Manipur on Saturday observed the 74th anniversary of historic first hoisting of India’s tri-colour flag in its soil at INA memorial complex at Moirang of Bishnupur district. Grand nephew of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Chandra Kumar Bose and ex-servicemen of Indian Army were among others, who paid tribute to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
Gracing the function, Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla remembered the historic moment when the tri-colour flag of India was first hoisted in April 14, 1944 which marked the beginning of the end of British rule in India. The occasion evoked a deep feeling of pride because the INA traversed through the state of Manipur on its historic campaign to free India from the British on the call given by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, she said.
