Manipur groups for people's ILP
Seven Sisters Post | Yumnam Rupachandra, Imphal (Oct 10):
“We have a serious situation, and at the way things are going by 2025 most of the Assembly constituencies in the state will fall in the hands of non-indigenous immigrants. With nearly 40% of the 27 lakh population in the state and unabated influx of outsiders, we feel it high time that everybody of us understands the alarming situation,” Jadumani said.
Brushing aside the recent government crackdown on illegal immigrants, Jadumani said: “What the government does is just an eye wash. It is trying to divert the issue. If the government really means business, it should implement ILP. Once the railway connection is complete, without a proper ILP system the influx is going to grow in leaps and bounds.”
