Manipur government deploy police commando in hill districts

The operation of Manipur police commando, the elite police force meant for maintenance law and order and counter insurgency operations and presently operating in the four valley districts, would be expanding its operational areas in hill districts of the state.
The state government has decided to increase the strength to 2600 by adding 1000 more personnel to deploy in Churachandpur, Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts and assist the civil police in maintaining law and order in these districts.
As per the approved proposal, the new units of the police commandos in these districts would have 100 personnel each. Apart from opening the new units, the strength of the existing police commandos in four valley district would also be increased by adding 150 personnel for Imphal West and Thoubal districts.
Out of the total 1000 personnel to be inducted into the state elite force include nine GO (Gazetted Officer) of rank not less than DSP, 22 inspectors, 40 sub-inspectors, 76 assistant sub-inspectors, 100 head constables, 653 police constables and 100 drivers.
