While appreciating the sterling performance of Manipur fencers who won overall team champions in the just concluded 11th national junior fencing championship chief coach of Indian Fencing Association, IFA Istvan Marton said the "Manipur fencers are the best in India".
He also suggested that promotion of the games from the grass root level is much required and frequency of championships from the local level to national level must be increased. As the games is very expensive one government and authority concerned should have patronage in it, he hinted. Marton and Mrs. Marton during their four-day stay in Imphal visited largest fresh water lake of southeast Asia Loktak Lake at Moirang in Bishnupur district and museum of Indian National Army located at Moirang. They were pleased to witness the Khwairamband Keithel, which is the only market in the world run solely by womenfolk. They also thanked the people here for hospitality shown to them. Marton also said that they enjoyed the Manipuri dishes during their four-day stay here. |
