Manipur State Mahila Morcha Joins Observation of World Environment Day
Imphal, June 8, 2014:
State BJP Mahila Morcha joins the observation of World Environment day by planting 250 fruit plants at Langol hills.
The event was led by Smt S Sheityabhama Devi, State Vice President who is in charge of Mahila Morcha and Smt Naorem Ibemcha Devi, Mahila Morcha President. Former president and leaders of Mahila Morcha join the event on the theme "Raise Your Voice, Not the Sea Level". Fruits like mangoes, oranges, jackfruits, banana and amla were planted on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Smt Sheityabhama said that Mahila Morcha of the party is very strong force of the party and will dedicate for the development of the Morchas.
Today's theme was to raise voice against indiscriminate encroachers of reserve forest in the state, particularly Langol area which was once a lush green mountain with variety of trees. With the number of government projects came up in the vicinity of the mountain, forest area are diminished, severely affecting the natural environment.
Smt Naorem Ibemcha, president of Mahila Morcha said, "We are raising our voice, Mahila Morcha will not be a mite spectator of what is happening around us. We will shout against the deforestation and encroachers of forest lands in the region."
The participating leaders vowed to fight against discrimination of women and children and to stand united for a better society. Important leaders present were former president Smt K Mema Devi, State Mahila Morcha Vice president, Smt A Radharani Devi; State Mahila Morcha General Secretary, Smt O Dayabati Devi; State Mahila Morcha Secretary Smt Boby Laishram; State Mahila Morcha Executive members,Smt Bonodini Devi, Smt Purinima Roy, Smt RK Ranjita Devi, Smt Sarju Devi and Smt Sriprada Devi.
