Manipur unit of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today said it has joined the pre-poll alliance of main opposition parties in the state to fight the coming January 28 assembly elections against the ruling Congress party. He said his party would put up 45 candidates both the hills and valley of Manipur which assembly strength is 60.
Sources in the ruling Congress also said they were looking for alliance with like-minded parties to fight the forthcoming polls. They said they would join hands with the parties who were willing to go with the congress.
However, CPI a ruling partner of Congress-led secular progressive front ministry in the state had earlier said they would not enter into pre-poll alliance but they would enter post poll alliance, said senior party leader and former veterinary minister M Nara yesterday.
