The 4th State Level Manipur Pineapple Festival which was earlier scheduled to be held on August 26 & 27 has been postponed in solidarity with Hunger Marchers’ Day, which falls on August 27.

2. The Festival is re-scheduled to be held on 3rd September, 2011 at Imphal.

3. As part of the Festival, Manipur Pineapple Show Contest will also be held on the festival’s day. Only those farmers who are ‘real’ cultivators of pineapple can participate in the competition. Prizes for Best Pineapple will be Rs 50,000.00, 2nd best Rs 30000.00 & 3rd best Rs 20000.00.

4. In the afternoon session of the festival’s day, the much awaited Manipur Pineapple Queen Contest is to be held with the theme ‘Beauty for Grassroots Development’. The winner of the contest is to be richer by Rs 44444.44, Rs 33333.33 & Rs 22222.22 respectively. There will be five sub-tiles & best designer awards carrying a cash prize of Rs 44444.44 each.

The five sub-titles are:
i) Best Pineapple Promoter
ii) Miss Personality
iii) Best Traditional Costume
iv) Best Sloganeering &
v) Best Model

5. The Manipur Pineapple Festival Committee, Manipur appeals to one and all to participate in the biggest farmers’ festival of the state.

Manipur Pineapple Queen Contest, 2011

Screening –cum- Rehearsal for Manipur Pineapple Queen Contest, 2011 is slated to be held on
Sunday, the 14th August, 2011
at Moirang Multipurpose Higher Secondary School Auditorium,
Moirang Lamkhai
from 11.00 am onwards.

All the aspiring contestants between the age of 15 – 25 years are therefore informed to attend the same without fail.

Application forms can be had on the screening day by paying Rs. 300/-. All aspiring contestants must submit 4 x 6 photo alongwith Xerox copy of I-card on the same day.
