(Writer: Sinam Krishnamohon Singh)
17th Century AD brought the glorious Vaisnavite cult in Manipur It really happened during the reign of Maharaja Chingthangkhomba in his kingdom Elder brother Gourashyam and Chingthangkhomba ruled the kingdom as kings for alternate years Gourashyam, with the interference of Thakur Paramananda was more maligned on Ramandi cult, an ancestral religious stream in the kingdom.
No doubt, the mythical and legendary Sanamahi and Pakhangba cult streamed down parallel to the adopted religious changes in Meitrabak.
During that particular one-year-reign of Gourashyam, the king and courtiers planned to exile Chingthangkhomba from Meitrabak. Chingthang Khomba found it as a grace from Lord Krishna.
He started his campaign for Vaishavism in MeitTabak by devoting his kingship to his brother in lieu of adopting Vaishavism in the kingdom. He had been exiled to Moirang which he accepted without any hesitation. Leaving behind his daughter Shija, he started his journey with his Maharani.
The conspiracy never ended. Gourashyam planned to keep Chingthangkhomba more far away from Meitrabak and finally succeeded to send the later once again from Moirang to Tekhao (Assam), with the help of Khellei Nungnang Telheiba, King of Moirang who was also a maternal uncle of Gourashyam and Chingthangkhomba.

Swargadev Surempa Rajeshwor warmly received Chingthangkhomba in his kingdom But in no time, the royal conspiracy reached Tekhao in a letter from Maharaj Gourashyam which told that Chingthangkhomba was a dangerous imposter and to kill him outrightly.
As a trial to confirm the contents of the letter, Chingthangkhomba had to late a wild royal Elephant of the king, barehanded. He was successful in doing so with the grace of Lord Knshna/Govinda.
The glorious founder of the Karta clan, who got the title of Raja Jai Singh came back to Meitrabak with a sizeable Tekhao army along with tribal army and defeated the Burmese and Moirang force which have already captured the royal palace of Meitrabak
Chingthangkhomba became the King of Meitrabak after the death of Gourashyam and achieved the title of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra and after he performed the Nirupan of Shree Shree Govindaji and dedicated the Maha Rasa Dance' in front of Shree Shree Govindaji
