MHA sanctions ‘distress fund’ for NE people in Delhi
Nagaland Post | New Delhi, Mar 6 (NPN):
Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned Rs. 5 lakhs as initial grant as ‘distress fund for North East people’ for burials/cremations in Delhi. An advocate in Delhi court, who is also from the North East, said that there had been instances where family of the deceased persons could not afford to transport the dead bodies of their loved ones home. “To give a decent burial or cremate the bodies, some Delhi based North East NGOs have been taking the lead to do so”, the advocate said.
IGP and Nodal officer for NE people, Robin Hibu informed that he along with others held a brainstorming meeting with MHA joint secretary (NE division) Satyendra Garg on this issue
