MHA Committee for NE submits recommendations
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA ) Committee for North East headed by former bureaucrat MP Bezbaruah submitted its recommendations for dealing with security and other issues of the
Northeast people residing in India cities to the Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju yesterday at the MHA conference Hall , New Delhi.
MOS Home has assured to look into the recommendations for its implementations. The committee recommended for an Immediate, short term and long term implementation of the submitted
recommendations .
The committee strongly pleaded for an immediate setting up of a Monitoring Committee at the MHA to monitor the implementation of their recommendations on time.
The eleven-member M HA Committee for North East was constituted by the Govt of India on February 5, 2014, headed by MP Bezbaruah to examine various kinds of concerns, including security of persons hailing from the north-eastern states living in the Metropolitan areas, causes behind the violence and discrimination against them, suggest measures to be taken by the Govt. to address these concerns and recommend on legal remedies and render its report within two months .
The report was delayed due to the Lok Sabha election held in April and May.
