MCI asks Manipur not to give recognition to RIMS
Nagaland Post | Agencies | Imphal, Feb 1 ()
Medical Council of India (MCI) has asked Manipur University not to extend recognition to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. Set up in 1972, RIMS is meant for students from seven states of the Northeast, who cannot compete with candidates of other States for seats in medical colleges in the country.
The MCI team had inspected the academic facilities and infrastructure in RIMS on September 5 and 6, 2014, reported The Hindu. According to the assessment report tabled in the MCI meeting held on January 13, 2015, infrastructure and academic facilities were not adequate in RIMS.
