Eight-year-old Master Lourembam Yaikhomba Mangang of Singjamei Thokchom Leikai has been selected for the National Bravery Award 2019 by the Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) .
Master Lourembam Mangang is son of L Tiken Singh and L Ongbi Kh Sana Devi.
He was selected for saving a 5-year-old boy from drowning in Imphal river in March last year.
He saw Konsam Angamba, son of Konsam Sandip and Konsam ongbi Thoibi, drowning when they were taking a bath in the river with their friends.
His presence of mind and quick action saved Angamba's life, said a statement of League of Valiant Envoys of Society (LOVES), Singjamei today.
The National Bravery Award will be given in mid-January in Delhi.
Meanwhile, LOVES has awarded a sum of Rs 1,000 to Master Lourembam Yaikhomba Mangang as an encouragement for his bravery during a 'Thanksgiving Tea Party' organised at the residence of its president Laitonjam Rabinchandra Meitei, said the statement.
