Nagaland Post | Imphal, May 22
Students Tuesday burnt effigies of chief ministers of Manipur, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and state home minister amidst tightened security taken up by the police in Imphal particularly in the wake of intensified agitation of the students.
Teachers of private schools also joined the students in the protest as police detained two teachers who were taking part in burning of effigies at Yumnam Leikai, along the Indo-Myanmar section of NH-39.
All police stations across the four valley districts were put on alert following intensification of agitations being launched jointly by six student bodies, AMSU, MSF, DESAM, KSA, SUK and SWAK, demanding justice into the controversial death of two students, Richard Loitam and Okram Laaba studied outside the state.
