Load Shedding And Heavy Fuel Project |

The toad shedding frequencies have been increased. Earlier there used to be load shedding from 5 pm to 10 after three days. Now it will be after every two days. Heavy fuel was a dream project, which was commissioned after formal inauguration by the President of India when he visited Manipur. Is this project really generating power? If yes why should load shedding frequencies be increased? Is this project going to be wound up without generating any electricity? Our Govt do not have any vision, the setting up of this project has something to do with the absence of vision of the men in power. If our Govt showed little wisdom this project could have been dropped when engineers sent up proposals. Whoever responsible for setting up this power project in Manipur owes an explanation to the people why they thought this project could survive in Manipur. Perhaps they might have gained something by way of receiving kickbacks from establishing this project. The highest authority of the land should think of instituting an enquiry just as CBI investigated rice missing scandal from the FCS godown, because one billion rupees were wasted in taking up a useless project which would not survive at all in Manipur. If CBI could be authorized to investigate the missing of rice worth some crores of rupees from the FCS godown the Govt too should think of fixing responsibility to those responsible for wasting above one hundred crores in taking up a project which will remain as ugly spot in Manipur. Thus money is wasted. That is why load-shedding frequencies keep on rising. If the amount were spent in taking up micro hydel projects in different areas of the state electricity shortage would have become a thing of the past. That was not done. if that was purely the design of the then concerned Minister the expert engineers could be asked as to why they could not resist the order handed down to them. Our expert engineers and planners do and cannot say any to the Ministers even though they know that the orders given to them by the Ministers are not in keeping with the views of the experts. It is said Ministers decide where the bridge and offices should be constructed setting aside expert opinions on the matter. Whatever the case may be establishment of heavy fuel project in Manipur is a great mistake committed by men in power. The persons responsible for wasting huge amount of money from the state exchequer in establishing the useless project should be pulled up and they should be asked whether, they discussed with the experts before setting up the project in Manipur. Can one say proudly that the project will survive in Manipur? The simple problem arises who will supply fuel for the project. Who will lend their trucks and tankers for carrying fuel from UP for supply to the project? All these matters were not considered before the Govt gave go ahead green signal for setting up the project. The President of India had inaugurated it. But will it function? Will it generate power to meet the power requirements of the state?
