Little wonders...

"Don't throw that out!!!" I shouted to my brother and our driver at the top of my voice. It gets on my nerves when someone does insensible act as littering wastes just about anywhere – on the roadside, in the middle of the road (how gross!!!), college campus (which is full of educated people – how pathetic!!!), even in hospitals etc etc and the list just goes on and on.... Its so sad to see most of the educated people doesn't understand a simple thing as such taught right from our childhood.
We hear shouts and cries, seminars and paper presentation everyday, every moment of the day in news, books and everywhere you can imagine. But all we did is read it out loud, by heart it and wrote it down to get marks. In case of adults, they read it, talk and discussed for a moment and forgotten afterward. Seems like we study only for marks, marks and more marks only.
The hot topic now-a-days is about saving our dear "Loktak Lake". As a measure, many organizations-Government and Non-Government alike, are shouting for help by means of several awareness campaign, competitions and even concerts. The big question which I want to ask is "Are the people getting the inner message of such programmes???" No! They aren't (as far as I've observed!). They come, enjoy the show. Win some prizes and off they go talking about pollution and blah blah blah.....
As they say, we cannot just sit back and watch thinking only the CM or the ministers must do it!!! Oh no! Remember dear friends, there is only one CM and one and only one minister for each locality. The problem is that we never thought on the impact we create to our dear Loktak Lake by our small small mistakes. Some of the mistakes are too tiny and un-noticeable that you'd laugh but it caused a major impact in the long run.
I want request each and every one to put on the healing touch to our environment and bring out these Little Wonders wherever you are :
1. Switching off lights and other electrical appliances when not in use (I'm also trying to get use to it!)
2. Use bucket while bathing instead of shower.
3. Turn off the tap while brushing
4. Don't throw litters everywhere you go. If you don't find use-me or dust bin, bring it home and throw them in the right place when you find one!
5. Walk; if the distance is small (it'll help you maintain your weight! Wink! Wink!), remember the "idea" walk and talk, talk and walk! It really is true!
These are just a few points but there are lots of others. Come on people, let us apply our bookish knowledge to save our environment including the Loktak Lake.
