Letter to CM : Remuneration of employees
15 May 2015
Sir,
I believe it is not unusual for you to receive a letter of any kind, addressing you on some of the plight, which is of acute and intense in nature that thrives in our state Manipur. Although you have enough in your list, I beg your pardon once more to listen to the voice of your subjects on what we have to say through this letter.
With due respect, it is not of my interest to diktat how you should run the government machinery, for your veteran repertoire in varied fields would suffice for a small state like ours. Besides, your sexagenarian experiences and those eminent acumen luminaries by your side to advice and envision you from all possible angles is more than enough. So, let me abstain.
However, my utmost concern that I would like to table before your notice is nothing but the state of remuneration of the employees in the state, which is of erratic in nature.
I am a student and a proud son of my father, whom the government of Manipur employed, but with a sick attitude, which has plague my family and to that extend our society at large. It is indeed sickening to watch, while no one seem to have a clue to liberate the dismayed victims in vain. And this has become an annual event like that of the Indian agriculture, which is a gamble of the monsoon. Even worse, in some of the departments, a lot of unrest is created when salaries are halted straight for 3-4 months and even beyond.
Our fathers have turned into a helpless borrower and our mom’s are compelled to do task that are alien to them. yet in return they get nothing but cash indebtedness while children of the said parents becoming a mere grief stricken spectators.
It is a shock and beyond comprehension as to how could this even happen, when the country is beyond and far from any Financial crisis or for that matter be the state. Your citizens have the right to know at least why this delay, but sir you seem to be least bothered. We expect at-least a minuscule courtesy and a tentative reasons as to what thwarts the machinery in taking adequate action in mitigating the pains and sufferings of your fellow employees. If you put yourself in our shoes and taste the bitterness/sting of being poor, maybe your ‘All Well’ dilemma will prompt you to take actions on this pathetic condition that we innocent citizens go through. This obstinate stand of your government that has infested our fellow brethren to this pitiable condition must be put to halt sooner rather than later.
And Sir, my assured little knowledge tells me that the govt. /state exist for the people and that the people are its pioneer. Yet, the reality check portrays the opposite; The government only drumming its achievements all the more louder than ever while bull-dozing its own agendas of interest, that only seemed a nightmare for its God Father-the CITIZENS! This attitude of your government that has eclipsed all the good faith of your fellow citizens towards your govt.and its own good deeds has to give way, for this is the only proactive remedy, although it will be now a gargantuan task to do so.
I therefore personally feel that our govt. should learn to empathize with the plight of its fellow citizens and bring in GOOD GOVERNANCE as it should be and not as they wish it to be. And yes, to be precise the payment at its sorry state should be addressed as immediate as it can be, because the sate dependents are in doom to the point of blood and sweat when the govt. flatly delay and neglect its mandate response. For money talks not only for the Rich, but for the Poor and the middle class as well.
So Sir, pay heed to the crude neglect that your govt. has put in abeyance so far, or else your more than a decade in chair will only be deprived of a great history. It's today that decides the fate of your govt./party in the long run too and how you choose to be remembered . It’s high time to retrospect vis-a-vis introspect and take adequate action or else your fellow ignorant citizens will only wail in vain while your govt. will go down in the history as a laughing stock in the eyes of our fellow countrymen. It is in your hand to initiate the change, for you are the first guardian of your citizen. You only are the harbinger of hope and respite for the people. Are you with us?
Yours sincerely
