From Yaosang Sports to the Olympic Arena, 19 year old Kothajit is all prepared to show his best ever performance in the London Olympics. Kothajit Singh started playing hockey when he was six years old where he stands lower than the ordinary hockey stick.

From the very beginning, he was associated with Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur (PHAM).

19-year old young Kothajit Singh made his maiden performance representing India in a Test series against South Africa with his impressive performance at junior level.

The Manipuri player moved to the Sports Authority of India centre in Lucknow in 2009 to improve his skills in the game of hockey with a dream to participate in international level championships. He made his mark in the Ranchi National Games in February last.

Later, he proved his worth when he was selected for the National camp. He had represented Indian Hockey team for the AajLan Shah Cup in May this year. He is selected for the Indian Olympic Hockey team and he stands in 18th position as a standby player.

Kothajit is among the four sons of Dhananjoy Singh who all play hockey. His eldest brother Dhaneshwor Singh is a hockey player of Assam Regiment hockey team, Rinenkumar represents Services Hockey team while his elder brother Jayanta also plays hockey with the ONGC hockey team.

Kothajit is now employed with Indian Oil.
