Junior Men's National hockey : Manipur loses Pool match

Maharashtra captain Devendra Walmiki made most of the opportunity he got after a tense match before the home team beat Himachal Pradesh by a solitary goal and qualified into the quarterfinals from Pool G in the 1st Hockey India Junior Men’s National hockey championship at the Balewadi Complex astro-turf on Wednesday.
Mandeep Singh fired an hat-trick, scoring in the 16th, 18th and 24th minutes as Punjab thrashed Manipur 8-1 in a Pool H match. Jatinder Singh had opened the account in the first minute of the match before Mandeep came to life. Gaganpreet Singh (36th), Sukhmanjit Singh (42nd), Talwinder Singh (44th) and Varun Kumar (58th) were the other scorers.
Nonetheless, Manipur’s Devshor Singh scored a consolation goal that was a treat to watch.
