June 4 attack: Insurgents had prior info about troop movements, reveals report
Nagaland Post | New Delhi, Jul 1 (NPN
Investigations into the June 4 attack in Manipur’s Chandel district has revealed that the NSCN(K) had prior information about the movement of 6th Dogra unit. Though the initial inquiry suggested intelligence failure, sources told CNN-IBN that the insurgents knew of the movement one month ahead. Such crucial security information was leaked out allowing the NSCN (K) to prepare for the deadly ambush, sources added.
The source further pointed out that the jawans did not follow the standard operating procedure (SOP) making them easy targets leading to heavy casualty. It was revealed that the insurgents carried out recce mission three times in three groups in batches of three so that the 23-member hit squad knew exactly what they were doing, when and how they were to carry out the attack, sources said.
