Thailand: Call For Applications - Human Rights Program Officer - Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact
I. Qualification and Criteria
1. Must be in an indigenous person from Asia
2. At least 3 years of work experience in the field of human rights—preferably at the national and regional/international level, including:
Experienced in programme and project planning, management and implementation
Experienced in project monitoring and proposal writing
Experienced in campaign and advocacy work at least at the national level
Experienced in indigenous peoples human rights issues
3. Extensive knowledge on human rights issues at the local and national level with at least basic knowledge on international human rights standards and mechanisms relating to indigenous peoples
4. Excellent writing skills in English with report writing ability
5. Proficient in use of basic computer applications such as MS Word, MS Excel and Power Point
6. Highly creative and motivated
7. Committed to work with indigenous organizations on a long term basis
8. Mature personality with the ability to work in a team and in a multicultural setting and demanding work environment with cross program coordination
II. Main Tasks
1. Assist in the development of Human Rights (HR) programme’s strategic work plan, budgeting and short-term plan
2. Share responsibility with the HR Data-base Officer on collation, documentation and verification of fact-sheet on cases of human rights violations
3. Prepare communications to the UN human rights mechanism, such as fact-sheets, human rights reports, synthesis documents, briefing papers, articles, and other such materials
4. Assists in coordinating activities such as meetings, exchanges, trainings, research and publication and documentation, etc
5. Assist the Coordinator and team members in the implementation and monitoring of the HR work-plans and projects
6. Assist in advocacy and networking for collaboration with and support from non-indigenous civil society organisations and international NGOs
7. Carry out other tasks assigned by the Programme Coordinator, Secretary General and Assistant to the Secretary General
Remuneration:
1. Minimum salary of Baht 25,000 (approximately 800.00 USD) with a 13th month salary after one year of service. Salary will be reviewed after 6 months of probationary period
2. Housing and personal communication allowance
3. Health Insurance
4. One time settlement allowance for foreign staff
5. Provident Fund amounting to 5% of the salary
6. Airfare for annual home visit
