Jessami Village Council claim unfounded, untrue: Meluri Village Council
Nagaland Post | Dimapur, Nov 17 (NPN)
Reacting to the claim of Jessami Village Council (JVC), under Ukhrul district of Manipur over Nov. 11 incident, the Meluri Village Council (MVC) Thursday termed it as “totally unfounded and untrue”.
In a statement, the MVC chairman Rholetho Ngouri said before the November 11 incident, the council could sense “fishy activities” at the said locations between 26 to 27 kms from Meluri.
The MVC chairman said on Nov. 9 he had a telephonic talk with JVC chairman, wherein the latter purportedly “admitted of his ignorance of the activities at the said location, which totally fell under Meluri as per the join agreement signed June 6, 1994 & Sept. 16, 2000 between the two councils.
He said in the agreement it was written that from Tevüne Malu/Mürüsou pillar, the boundary mark would follow the border road towards Meluri till the extreme turning point.
As such, Rholetho said on Nov. 11 Meluri villagers, and not the mob as claimed by JVC, had gone to the location and found six Jessami villagers, with one Gypsy and Motorbike, indulging in “illegal activities” by cutting firewood.
