JFA express grief at Thokchom Khelen's demise

Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) expresses profound grief at the sudden demise of Manipur based senior journalist Khelen Thokchom, who was one of the active media persons of northeast India.
Thokchom (58) experienced severe chest pain last night at his residence in Imphal and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he died today (1 April) morning.
On the other hand, the JFA invites all media persons of Assam to attend a memorial meeting to pay tributes to senior journalist Mohan Kakati, who expired on 26 March after suffering from illness for sometimes. The meeting is scheduled for 3 pm on Tuesday (3 April) at Guwahati Press Club.
Hailed from Roha in Nagaon district, Kakati (63) used to work for Dainik Janambhumi, Dainik Asom, Ajir batori, Asomiya Pratidin, Aji, Asomiya Khabar, Niyamia Barta etc and left behind a host of relatives and well-wishers.
“Understanding the life of a scribe is precious to the society and nation, we urge all media persons to maintain a sound health pursuing preventive healthcare initiatives along with their families. Moreover we appeal to the governments to support the bereaved families at this time of crisis,” said a statement issued by JFA president Rupam Barua and secretary Nava Thakuria.
