Irom Sharmila is making breakfast. The daily meals most of us take for granted are a whole new adventure for Sharmila. "One chapter of my life is ending, a new chapter beginning," muses Sharmila. "Life is completely unknown. Here I am, making breakfast!"
It is August 15, 2016. Six days after breaking her 16-year-long fast, she prepares cornflakes and oats in hot water. We are in her room at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute for Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal, where she spent years as a prisoner. Free since August 9, soon she will leave it forever.
