Inuaguration Of Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Department
HealthCity, Langol: A dedicated Paediatrics & Neonatology Department was inaugurated today at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI), HealthCity, Langol. Dr. R.K. Nimai, IAS (Retd.), Advisor to Govt. of Manipur was the Chief Guest of the inaugural function, Prof. P. Ibomacha Singh (Retd.) HOD, Department of Paediatrics, RIMS was the Guest of Honour and Dr. Kh. Palin, CMD, SHRI was the president of the function.
Dr. S. Jugindra, Medical Superintendant, SHRI gave a keynote address on behalf of the Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI). He mentioned in his keynote address that it has been a long cherished dream to launch a full-fledged Paediatrics & Neonatology Department at SHRI which is today being fulfilled. Dr. Taorem Yaikhomba Khuman, Consultant Paediatrician introduced the Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Department to the gathering.
He highlighted the advanced facilities available at the department and gave a special stress on the Surfactant Therapy and expressed his desire to introduce PICC Insertion at the department in the near future.
He also mentioned about the dedicated OPD timing from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, availability of 24 X 7 Paediatrics & Neonatology Emergency Services and 3 Full-time Consultant Paediatricians
Delivering his speech at the inaugural function, Dr. R.K. Nimai expressed his appreciation to SHRI for starting the Paediatrics Department.

He noted that every citizens of India should be benefitted with healthcare solutions with the tagline "Health for All" launched in 2000 which can be achieved by efforts of service providers like SHRI. He elaborated on SHRI’s ability to provide efficient service for the last few decades.
During his speech, Prof. P. Ibomacha Singh highly appreciated SHRI on launching the Paediatrics & Neonatology Department. He emphasized that the mortality rate of Manipur which stands at 10 can be decreased with the introduction of Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Department. Dr. Kh. Palin in his presidential speech thanked the Chief Guest, Guest of honour, Invitees and Staffs for their presence at the inaugural function of the Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Department.
He noted that the Paediatrics department is an essential unit in SHRI and literally felt happy to launch the department. He highlighted the successful collaboration of Govt. and Private Sector by citing examples of setting up Shija Blood Bank & Transfusion Services and Shija Regional Plant and Oxygen Generation Unit, which is under construction and he also stressed on the potential of Medical Tourism in Manipur.
The Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Department has the state of the art NICU and PICU, well equipped with Multimode Ventilators, Bubble CAP, Multipara monitors, 24 hours ABG facilities, Phototherapy, Exchange transfusion facilities, Surfactant therapy facilities, Central catheterization facilities, Total parental nutrition facilities and Radiant warmers
Also, the department is supported by NABH accredited Blood Bank with NAT (1st in Eastern India); NABL accredited hospital based diagnostic laboratory (1st in Manipur), 24 X 7 CT Scan and Ultrasound facilities and Multispecialty referral facilities under one roof.
