International Day of Radiology at D M Community College on 8th November 2019
As it is done in the previous years; elsewhere in the world, the Dhanamanjuri Community College based at D M College of Science under Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal observed the International Day of Radiology (IDOR) this day the 8th November 2019.
The function was organised at the Seminar Hall of the Community College by the Department of Radio Imaging Technology under DDU Centre for KAUSHAL.
The Controller of Examinations of Dhanamanjuri University Dr Asem Nabachandra Singh attended the function as the Chief Guest, Assistant Professor of Pharmaceuticals Manish Kumar Moirangthem & Director of the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Centre for KAUSHAL Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh also attended as the Guest of Honour and President respectively.
The Day is observed in commemoration with the discovery of X-ray by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895. Seminar Presentations by the Students on the theme for 2019’s IDOR: Sports Imaging marked the main attractions of the observance.
Sports imaging is a sub-speciality within Radiology which focuses on the parts of the body commonly injured by athletes or people partaking in sporting activities. Within Radiology we use the term Musculoskeletal (MSK).
This covers all areas of the body which contain bones, joints and soft tissues. In the previous years, the day is also observed as the World Radiography Day that marks the anniversary of the discovery of X-rays in 1895.
The main objective of this day is to raise public awareness of radiographic imaging and therapy, which play a crucial role in the diagnosis and the treatment of patients and, most importantly, ensuring radiation is kept to the minimum required, hence improving the quality of patient care.
The day is celebrated worldwide by various national radiographers' associations and societies, including Indian Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists.
