"If you do not participate in politics, you will be ruled by your inferior", Erendro Leichombam, Convenor of regional party of Manipur People's Resurgence and Justice Alliance quoted a line from Plato while speaking at the debate and discussion programme, "MU Campus Talk 1.0".
This programme was organised by Manipur University Student's Union on 24th of February 2017 on the theme "Interface between Politicians and Youths of Manipur: A discussion on AFSPA, Framework agreement and Party manifesto" at the Coffee corner located inside the MU campus.
Media partners are online media portal e-pao.net and local cable network Impact TV and the programme and the programme was sponsored by Books and Coffee, a local book and beverage house located at Yumnam Leikai under Singjamei of Manipur.
Leaders of various political parties, CPI, BJP, Congress, PRJA and 3 students participate in the discussion and discussed on main topic like AFSPA, Framework Agreement and Party Manifesto. Large number of students, teachers, research scholars and various people attended the discussion.
While speaking on the theme of the discussion, Erendro Leichombam said if one has a fervour of serving its land and has the instinct to sacrifice, one must join politics. He said it's time to change the misconception that politics is for the idle and intoxicant abusers. And the change can be brought by the youths, he continued.
Erendro urged all the youths especially students to wholly participate in elections. Participating in the discussion, President of Manipur university student's union, Buchi Mayanglambam said, it is very unfortunate that today's youth have the worst opinion about electoral politics and they refrain themselves from electoral participation.
Buchi said, It is high time to accept that this is a very wrong concept. Everything we own are governed by politics and to be true we must try to hold a position where we can govern ourselves. We have to erase the system where politicians targeted only the un-educated, less-vision section of the society, he added.
A big thanks to MUSU members and its colleagues for creating a platform for the suppressed voices. We hope to see more of this programme in the coming days. Let your voice be heard!
