Industry-Connect programme for industry linkages in North Eastern Region
IBSD organized Industry-Connect programme for the development of industry linkages in North Eastern Region. Institute of Biorcsources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India organized Industry-Connect (I-Connect) programme for developing collaboration between industry and institute.
The programme was attended by entrepreneurs from Manipur and different parts of North Eastern Region of India. During the event, several entrepreneurs shared their knowledge for the development of products/ processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources and development bioeconomy from bioresources. This programme was organized under the Phytopharmaceutical Mission on developing bioeconomy from bioresources with the leadership of Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD, Imphal.
IBSD is working on exploring natural resources for the development of bioeconomy at large. This programme highlighted specially on the usage of medicinal plants, foods, bamboo species and other resources for the promotion of ethno-entrepreneurs in Manipur. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Srivari Chandrasekhar, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Dr. Chandrasekhar highlighted importance of traditional knowledge and medicinal plants available in NER. Dr. Chandrasekhar appreciated Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, Director, IBSD for taking such initiatives for linking industry experts with local entrepreneurs in NER.
The programme was addressed by Shri Jayant Sahasrabudhe, National Organising Secretary, Vijnana Bharati. He highlighted the efforts of IBSD for the documentation and validation of traditional knowledge for the development of bioresources in the state of Manipur.
He appreciated the efforts of Director, IBSD for establishing Science Museum in Chandel, Aspirational district of Manipur and suggested to explore such museum in other parts of NER to inculcate science among students.
The programme was attended by many entrepreneurs from NER including Dr. Th. Dhabali Singh, Dr. Palin Khundongbam, Mr. Kamesh Salam, Ms. Elizabeth Yambem, Mrs. Phyrnai Shadap and traditional healers including Mr. TombiRaj Ningthoukhongjam, Mr. Asem Mohori Moirangcha.
Many speakers/ experts including Dr. Alka Sharma, Dr. Manish Diwan. Dr. Manoj Modi, Dr. Mohd Aslam, Dr G. Narahari Sastry, Prof. Sitesh C Bachar, Prof. Michael Heinrich, Dr. Rakshak Kumar. Dr. Kruolalie Tsurho, Dr. Subhash Mandal, Dr. C. K. Katiyar, Dr. S. Yoirentomba and Dr. Thiyam David Singh shared their ideas about opportunities for establishing industries in NER.
During the programme many industrialists including Shri. Birendra K. Sarkar. Mr. Ranjit Puranik, Dr. C. K. Katiyar, Mr. Kartikeya Baldwa, Mr. Anish Chakraborty, Dr. Indraneel Das and Dr Ramakant Harlalka shared their knowledge for the development of products/ processes/ technologies with value addition of bioresources of NER.
Many students and scientists of IBSD also attended the programmes. IBSD is organizing such programmes to commemorate the 75 years of Independence as a part of the occasion "Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav".
