Indo-Myanmar pact to benefit NE: Gogoi
Assam Tribune | Guwahati, Oct 15
The Indo-Myanmar agreement is going to serve the interest of the North-eastern States the most, especially in dealing with the insurgents holed up in the neighbouring country.
This was stated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi while talking to media persons today.
The Chief Minister said, “Like Bangladesh, we hope that Myanmar too would initiate steps to flush out militants from their backyard. The bordering areas of Myanmar, particularly the Arunachal-Myanmar border, has become a hub for the militant outfits of the region, which is why it was important for the both the countries to have some sort of bilateral understanding to deal with the situation.”
