India-Myanmar Economic Relationships: The Unfolding Scenario - Dependent on China- Part 4 |

It is clearly evident from the tables 5A and 5B that the Myanmar economy is becoming increasingly dependent on China, which any sensible country would know is not sustainable, particularly so when the balance of trade is so unbalanced. Besides this economically unsustainable trade scenario, the dynamism of exports in so far as its ability to foster growth of the economy too is declining over the years. This is seen in Table 6. This table provides the relative dynamism of exports of the least developed fifty countries of the world. This shows the structurally undiversified nature of exports and, coupled with the structure of imports, establishes the precarious condition of the economy of Myanmar.
