Imphal Talkies, a folk and alternative rock band from Manipur will perform for the Biggest Musical Festival BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender which will kick off from Northeast India (Shillong) this year. The festival will travel to five cities across India.
The journey kicks off in Shillong, where the festival will be held for the first time, on October 23-24. From Shillong, the festival travels to the remaining four editions of the festival - October 31-November 1 in Kolkata, November 28-29 in New Delhi, December 4-6 in Pune and December 5-6 in Bangalore.Over 100 artists across diverse genres will play on five different stages at the festival this year - with huge global names like A. R. Rahman, Mark Ronson, Megadeth and Rodrigo y Gabriella on the bill.
This year Northeast, witnessing the pleasure of this musical extravaganza for the very first time, will unwind to the magical tunes of renowned performers like Megadeth, Indus Creed, Kailasa, Papon and The East India Company, Parikrama, The Raghu Dixit Project, Imphal Talkies (Manipur), Lucid Recess and Lou Majaw & Friends in Shillong on 23 and 24 of October.

The happiest music festival turns six this year. Since 2010, the BACARDÍ NH7 Weekender has grown to be one of the country’s most beloved musical weekends - representing Bacardi India and Only Much Louder’s commitment to bringing fans unforgettable musical experiences - a reflection of the untameable spirit of the festival. International Artists
Mark Ronson
The man responsible for one of the biggest singles of the year, ‘Uptown Funk', will play his debut shows in India at the Delhi, Pune and Bangalore editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year. Mark Ronson is an English DJ, record producer and songwriter. He has produced multi-platinum, Grammy-winning albums for artists like Amy Winehouse and Adele, and his fourth studio albumUptown Special peaked at #1 on the UK charts earlier this year.
Flying Lotus
American producer/DJ Flying Lotus has been releasing critically-acclaimed electronic albums since 2006. Known to his fans as FlyLo, Steven Ellison is considered by many as one of the most relevant artists in electronic music today. In a review of his 2014 album You’re Dead!, XXL magazine said, “The genius of Flying Lotus… is that he has an incredible ability to both illustrate and extract exceptional amounts of emotion, without saying much at all."
Megadeth
One of the “big four” of thrash metal, Megadeth are global metal giants. They are pioneers of the same American thrash metal scene that produced Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, and are heavily credited as being one of the most influential names in metal. They have released several platinum-selling albums including Rust in Peace and Countdown to Extinction, the album that the band played in its entirety when they performed in India for the first time at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2012. This year, the band will perform at the Shillong and Kolkata editions of the festival.
Rodrigo y Gabriela
Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero comprise Rodrigo y Gabriela, the Mexican acoustic guitar duo who will play their first sets in India at the Delhi, Pune and Bangalore editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year. They have performed at music festivals around the world and have collaborated with the likes of Hans Zimmer (on the soundtrack of the film Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides). Their most recent studio album, 9 Dead Alive, was released in 2014.
The Wailers
The Wailers originally comprised Bob Marley, Bunny Lingston and Peter Tosh. The band is considered to be one of the most influential reggae acts in the world. After Bob Marley’s death in 1981, the band continued with Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett taking over the reins. They have performed all over the world and will play their first ever gigs in India at the Shillong and Kolkata editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender.
Thumpers
Indie pop duo Thumpers have been on the fringes of the UK indie pop scene for a few years, putting out solid, hype-free releases that have addressed the same audiences as bands that they’ve toured with like Chvrches, MS MR and Two Door Cinema Club. They released their debut studio album Galore in 2014 to critical acclaim, and will play at the Delhi, Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival this year.
Soul Clap
DJ duo Soul Clap are known for sets that tread the fine line between nostalgic disco scene and contemporary dance festival blowout. As DJs, they’ve been active for over a decade, playing clubs all over the world andreleasing a number of remixes, mixtapes, and EPs. The duo run their own record label, Soul Clap Records, in Boston, which has been releasing music since 2013. Soul Clap will play the Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival.
Pierce Brothers
Melbourne duo Pierce Brothers create a brand of indie pop that has earned them praise from all corners and has seen them perform everywhere from England to the Netherlands, New Zealand and Canada. Comprising of twin brothers Jack and Pat, they have sold over 40,000 EPs independently and recently inked record deals with Warner Music Australia and Sony/RCA Benelux among others. They will perform at the Delhi, Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival.
Hidden Orchestra
Hidden Orchestra is a musical collective from Edinburgh, led by multi-instrumentalist composer/producer Joe Acheson. The band’s music and live shows feature a wide variety of guest musicians from all kinds of musical styles. Their debut album Night Walks was ‘Album of the Month’ on BBC Radio 1 when it was released in September 2010. Hidden Orchestra will play the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in Delhi, Pune and Bangalore this year.
Noori
Pakistani pop rock band Noori are considered by many to be pioneers of the Pakistani rock music scene. Formed in 1996, the band is comprised of two brother Ali Noor and Ali Hamza who eschewed a traditional career path to play rock music. The band has release two studio albums and are gearing up for the release of their third, possibly later on this year. They will play the Delhi and Bangalore editions of the festival.
Indian Artists
A. R. Rahman
Perhaps the biggest name in Indian music today, A. R. Rahman is an Oscar, Grammy, BAFTA, Golden Globe, National Film Award-winning composer. Making his first music festival appearance in India at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year, his sets in Delhi, Pune and Bangalore promise to be some of the most memorable in the festival’s six-year history.
Dr. L. Subramaniam
Though Dr. L. Subramaniam is one of the most recognisable names in the Carnatic tradition of Indian classical music, his contributions to the genres of jazz fusion and world fusion are endless. Bringing all these traits to the fore, the PadmaShri awardee will play his first sets at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year in Pune and Bangalore.
Kailasa
Singer Kailash Kher’s fusion rock project Kailasa have played some of the most memorable sets at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender in the past years. Their blend of Sufi and folk rock has won them thousands of fans across the country and this year, they will perform at the Shillong and Kolkata editions of the festival.
Baba Sehgal
There is only one name that comes to mind when one hears the phrase “Indian rap”, and that name is Baba Sehgal. What can be said about Baba Sehgal that hasn’t been said before except that he will play at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender for the first time this year in Pune. Please, go to the gym now, you’ve been reading for too long.
The Raghu Dixit Project
One of India’s biggest musical exports in the past few years, The Raghu Dixit Project are Bacardi NH7 Weekender veterans. Their irresistible blend of upbeat folk rock and heartfelt emotives have earned them acclaim from all corners. They’ve played Glastonbury, WOMAD and dozens of other international festivals along with being one of the hardest touring live acts in the country. The band will perform at the Delhi, Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival.
Vir Das’ Alien Chutney
India’s most popular comedy rock band, Vir Das’ Alien Chutney comprises comedian Vir Das performing alongside some stalwarts of the country’s indie rock scene. With popular songs like ‘Tadka’ and ‘Foreign Accent’, the band’s live show is as laugh out loud funny as it is musically sound. This year, the band will perform at the Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival.
Bhayanak Maut
One of the country’s most exciting metal bands, BhayanakMautare veritable legends when it comes to the Indian metal scene. The band have a massive following in all corners of the country, and will release their newest album at this year’s Bacardi NH7 Weekender. BM will play the Shillong edition of the festival this year.
Nucleya
Udyan Sagar, better known by his electronic music alias Nucleya, is one of the foremost names in Indian bass music today. Nucleya cut his teeth at previous editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender and soon was headlining electronic and bass music stages around the country. Preparing a new studio release for later this year, Nucleya will play the Shillong, Kolkata and Delhi editions of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender 2015.
Clinton Cerejo
Coke Studio made Clinton Cerejo a household name; a man with many film credits to his name but also a knack for melody and composition. He has worked with the likes of A. R. Rahman, Vishal Bhardwaj and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and will this year perform at the Bangalore edition of the Bacardi NH7 Weekender.
Dhruv Voyage
Guitarist/composer Dhruv Ghanekar’s new project Dhruv Voyage sees him join forces with some of the most exciting sessions musicians in the country’s music scene. His new album Voyage features collaborations with the likes of Raul Midon, Etienne Mbappe and IlaArun. Dhruv Voyage will perform at the Kolkata, Pune and Bangalore editions of the festival.
